There are many different ways of living on this planet and all have impacts on the planet and other life. The question is how big of an impact. Whether it is home-building, generating electricity, growing food, using water, each has a variety of different methods with varying impacts. Sustainable modes of living operate with a principal of creating no waste that can’t be used by some other process. The manure of the cow is food for the worms and the manure of the worms is food for the soil organisms, which is food for the grass, which is them food for the cows. This is the cyclical nature of the natural world.
